Drone Roof & Façade Surveys

Detailed building data without unnecessary access at height

UAV Surveys provides high-resolution drone roof and façade surveys for building surveyors, structural engineers, property consultants, facilities managers and asset owners across the UK.A drone survey can capture areas that are difficult, expensive or disruptive to inspect conventionally, while providing considerably more than a collection of aerial photographs.

Depending on the project, we can deliver systematically captured inspection imagery, georeferenced photography, photogrammetric models, point clouds, orthomosaics and measured 3D information suitable for further assessment by your project team.

Whether the requirement is a detailed roof condition survey, investigation of a high-rise façade or accurate imagery of an inaccessible structure, the survey is planned around the information you actually need.

Roof Surveys

Our roof surveys provide detailed coverage of pitched, flat and complex roof structures without relying on scaffolding, MEWPs or physical access simply to establish the condition of the asset

.High-resolution imagery can be used to investigate areas including roof coverings, flashings, parapets, gutters, valleys, drainage systems, roof-mounted plant, penetrations, chimneys and other features.

For larger or more complex roofs, systematic image capture can also be processed photogrammetrically to create an accurate visual record of the complete structure rather than relying on isolated photographs.

Façade Surveys

Tall and inaccessible façades can require significant access arrangements before an engineer or surveyor can even begin an inspection. Our UAV surveys allow detailed imagery to be collected across the elevation while maintaining a controlled and repeatable capture geometry. This provides the client with a comprehensive visual record that can be reviewed after the site work has been completed.Applications include the investigation and documentation of cracking, staining, displaced or damaged materials, corrosion, failed joints, masonry condition, cladding, glazing, concrete deterioration and other visible defects. We collect the data. Interpretation of structural defects remains with the appropriately qualified building or structural professional where required.

More Than Aerial Photography

Where a project requires measurable information rather than inspection photographs alone, we can combine high-resolution imagery with photogrammetric processing.Depending on the structure and project requirements, outputs can include:

High-resolution inspection imagery

Georeferenced photographs Orthographic roof or elevation imagery3D photogrammetric models Dense point clouds Measured surface information CAD-compatible survey information Digital records for comparison during future inspections. This allows engineers and surveyors to interrogate the structure after the flight and provides a permanent digital record of its condition at the date of survey.

Survey Planning Every building is different.

Before arriving on site we assess the structure, surrounding environment, airspace, access constraints, required resolution and intended deliverables. The flight methodology is then designed around the required output rather than simply flying a standard automated pattern. For detailed façade work this can include controlled stand-off distances, appropriate camera orientation, overlapping image sequences and flight speeds selected to maintain image quality.Where accurate measured outputs are required, suitable survey control and independent verification can be incorporated into the project.

High-Resolution Data

The value of a building survey is determined by what can actually be seen in the resulting data. Our capture methodology is therefore based around the required level of detail. Where appropriate, flight distance, lens selection, shutter speed, aircraft speed and image overlap are selected around the target ground or surface sampling distance. This is particularly important when the purpose of the survey is defect identification rather than general photography.## Suitable ApplicationsOur roof and façade surveying service can support commercial buildings, residential blocks, industrial facilities, historic structures, schools and universities, hospitals, warehouses, offices, public buildings and infrastructure assets.

Surveys can be commissioned as a standalone inspection or incorporated into a wider topographical, photogrammetric or LiDAR survey.## Why UAV Surveys?UAV Surveys is a specialist surveying operator rather than a general aerial photography company. Our work is built around controlled data acquisition, appropriate survey methodology and deliverables that can be used by professional teams.

That distinction matters. A technically useful building survey requires more than putting a drone in the air and taking photographs.

Discuss Your Building Survey

If you have a roof, façade or structure that is difficult to inspect conventionally, send us the location, drawings or photographs together with an indication of what you need to investigate. We can then recommend an appropriate capture methodology and provide a quotation for the survey and required deliverables.UAV Surveys Ltd 02381 184 2612 info@uav-surveys.co.uk
